Doors and Details

This is my last posting of design inspiration from the Netherlands! Enjoy!
I love the way the two urns were painted avocado green and placed outside this town house door. This entrance is directly off the road and this gives it a "front landing" to enter from!

Check out the casings around this door! It is not a casing at all, just the siding painted to look like a casing!

This is a typical door knob on the older homes in Holland!

Windows in Holland

Amsterdam, Leiden and Delft had so many beautiful, old homes that had updated architectural details and windows that I found to be incredible. Sometimes the architectural details were replaced with windows! All in all it is very clever and creative.

Elegant Diaper Changes

The baby changing table in this rest room was...elegant? Could it be?

I love the black and white changing pad, the black console/changing table and the pail.
Note the wall tile--it measured 22 x 12--a large and unusual size.

Kid's Bathrooms

This adorable restroom for children is scaled for their size! The door itself is about 4'6" high. The sink is about 20" from the floor, no step stool needed here! Even the toilet is low to the floor!
I just love the bright colors and hot air balloon theme!

An Explosion of Color

These photos were taken on April 7th

at the Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, Netherlands.
Even the cafe was colorful!

A Delft Bicycle

Delft, Netherlands
The delft tile tradition is taken very seriously in the town that bears it's name!

Orange & Brown, very 70's...

This little sitting area is so chic.
The orange and brown combination is so 1970's!

The use of funky corner chairs with a metallic fabric, the large medallion pattern wallpaper and textured velvet pillows brings it into 21st century.

The craziest thing was that I returned to this lobby an hour after this photo was taken and this furniture was gone! I think someone else liked it more than I did!

Contemporary Design, Historic Engineering

This drawbridge is over a small canal in Leiden, NL. I love the old world design adapted to use current materials, giving it a contemporary look. This may be my favorite type of design--influenced by the past and reinterpreted for today.
